Role based Customization Help

I saw another post on the forums asking about this, but I didn't want to necro it to ask for further help.
I am trying to use the role booleans to color the border and box colors, but no matter what I do, I'm unable to get it to work.

can you share what your modified code looks like and which widget you're trying to edit?
