Widget Setup

Widget Setup

Hi there, I am running into an issue. No matter how many times i reset my stream key and i even have some downloaded, each time i try and reload the browser file i get an error saying 'invalid stream key' how do I go about fixing that?
Are you sure you put the key into the correct folder and that it's named SLIME2_TWITCH_KEY? And did you extract the files before doing that?

Its extracted yeah and its in the Slime Chat v3.10 folder inside the slime-chat folder- that's correct yeah?
hmm ok

can you share a screenshot of the error and your folder setup?

Great guide and great overlay.
One issue I was facing is that whenever I changed anything in settings when using chrome, the widget settings immediately disappeared as soon as I clicked anything.
I opened the HTML with FireFox next and that seemed to solve the issue (as soon as I click, a file gets downloaded)

oh weird
glad you have a workaround though

the next version of slime2 will be a full desktop app so these issues can be avoided

I'm having an issue and I have no idea what to do. I bought and downloaded the animal crossing chat widget. Extracted the zip folder, logged in with my twitch and got my key. Put the key in the widget folder. But whenever I open the HTML I get the invalid key error.

I think this may be an issue with the website? Every time I leave the page I have to re-authenticate my twitch, idk if thats normal or not. Any help would be appreciated!

Hey there,

Some time ago I started using the round chat (+ sent through a small thanks via KoFi, ref S-B0B2SISG4).

Recently I've had people in chat noting/complaining that their updated pronouns are not reflected in the chat, including several days after updating them on the alej.io website.

I've finally worked out what the common theme is: these issues all happened after Alej.io changed their pronoun database to include primary and secondary pronouns in separate database fields - i.e. their website is now storing They/He pronoun users as They/Them (primary pronoun) and He/Him (secondary pronoun) fields. Their pronouns then appear in the chat box as primary pronoun only (They/Them).

I've tested and tried changing my pronouns around and yeah, looks like this is what's happening.

I'm wondering if your chat box will be updated to include people's secondary pronouns? I really adore the design but I don't like having so many people distressed about their pronouns appearing incorrect - or only partially correct.

Thanks for having made this work and again I gotta stress how great it is, and how much I hope I can keep using it ><

oh that's because the author of that widget hasn't updated it to the latest version of slime2

you can manually update it by following this:

@Afterglow
you should be able to just type the exact font name of any font installed on your computer into the font input

I'm writing down the font name manually (Press Start 2P, I tried Press Start 2P Regular as well which is technically the "full font name") and it doesn't work. Does slimechat not work with this particular font, or am I doing something wrong?

@Zaytri Lmao yeah , it is a google font so maybe there's a way to import it? I tried importing it into the css file but, admittedly, I've forgotten the little I used to know about css or html. Assuming the font import at the top of the css file is even for the chat itself, which I'm kindaaa assuming it isn't, it's probably just for the settings you get when you open the html

@criminallyShumo ok it looks like for fonts with spaces in the name, you gotta surround it with quotation marks for it to work
so it'd be "Press Start 2P" rather than Press Start 2P
