Hello! I've been toying with this, but when adjusting the colors on the settings, they do not save. They reset right back to the "pink" template, even after correctly following the instructions and placing the "bubble-chat-data.js" in the "assets" folder. It continues to show as pink in OBS.

Nothing I seem to be doing is fixing it, so I'm worried it's a bug. Thanks for making this adorable widget!

^ @cafeaunat I've confirmed that it's a bug in your code, not with slime2 or a UX issue because the other settings save fine, while custom colors don't. Might work better if you had a separate button to load a selected theme, rather than controlling it with the selection value directly, or a "custom" selection that doesn't try to inject anything.

hi! thank you for letting me know, and thank you zaytri for confirming the bug. i've implemented a quick-fix that should solve the issue.

one caveat is that if you have selected a custom color and then switch between light or dark mode, it will overwrite the color values to the color theme's colors. just something to look out for. i don't think this was introduced with the quick-fix, and rather something that was there all along. will look into this in the future

I really dont know if im doing something wrong here but the bubbles arent showing my alignment settings in obs. I change it to align to the right and the bubbles themselves move to the right but they are still aligned left if that makes sense. I am downloading the settings after changing and putting it in the folder and then refreshing it on OBS but its not updating

hiii~

i'm not sure where i've gone wrong with setting up, but the chat bubbles seems to be confined to smaller dimensions although i have them set to 1920x1080 in the obs source settings? but in the browser setup it looks fine.

these are some of the things i've tried-

changing the dimensions to a range of different sizes
refreshing the source
deleting the custom CSS in the obs source settings
resaving the widget data
deleting and re-adding the source to obs

unfortunately nothing has worked

hi there! are there any specific settings that seems to not be saved? or just all of them?

if you haven't already, you can check out the widget setup guide here: https://forums.slime2.stream/resources/widget-setup.3/
but in short, when you click the "save widget data" button, you will get a download of a file called bubble-chat-data.js make sure that this file is not called bubble-chat-data.js (1) or similar!

you then want to make sure that bubble-chat-data.js is in the same folder as the overlay-bubble-chat.html , it should look like this



it's not only easier in my personal opinion, but you have to open overlay-bubble-chat.html in your browser, and edit everything there. the save widget data-button will not work within OBS! then when you import it to OBS you make sure to set the height and width, and you can also make sure to update the overlay with the Refresh-button in OBS

Hello! I have 2 questions and I am not sure whether the original creator of the Bubble Chat (cafeaunat) will be able to answer them or if I should be directing my questions to Zaytri directly.

First question: Will Bubble Chat ever support 7TV emotes added to the channel?
I am aware of the fact that the Slime Chat is not supporting global emotes from BTTV/FFZ. However I have noticed that all the custom emotes from FFZ that I have added to my channel (only 12/50) are working! Unfortunately I have most of my emotes from the 7TV app (224).
FFZ has the limit of only 50 emotes, 7TV has the limit of 600 emotes. I am not sure about the limit on BTTV emotes and I quickly tested 2 animated emotes - 1 was not working at all (displayed as text KEKW) and the 2nd was static as a JPG file.

I have seen the post from Zaytri on Twitter, saying that she will never support 7TV emotes.

The post was made on November 2023, so I am not aware of the current situation on the matter.

While I am in love with Bubble Chat and it is my favorite free chat widget, I would like to have the emotes working
I have searched for other free chat widgets and couldn't get any of them to work. I am a small streamer and don't want to spend money on a chat widget currently. Especially considering the fact that I love Bubble chat and all I really would like to have more is the working emotes really.

Second question: Sometimes while I am streaming, the chat on screen actually freezes/stops working. Once I click the 'refresh' button in OBS it starts working again, completly fine. I get the feeling that the chat stops working if I have a ping spike/slower internet for a second.
Is there a way to go around it and have it working fine all the time (without the freezes)?
I have added the screenshot of my browser settings in OBS for the Bubble Chat.

I apologize if the topic of emotes repeats and feels frustrating to any of the creators!

I'll answer this.

I still stand by tweet. Additionally as part of the widget submission rules, widgets that include 7TV support aren't allowed here.
BTTV should work in theory.
I promise you that you do not need nearly that many emotes to have good engagement with your community. They should be there for you, not for your emotes.
Not sure why the chat would freeze up, but if you let it run in a separate browser tab, press CTRL+SHIFT+I to access devtools, go to the console tab, and then when the chat freezes up again get a screenshot of any errors that show up in there and share them here so we can analyze it.

Howdy, loving the widget you have created!

Is it possible to allow people to choose the placement of the badges? I really like the look bottom left but dislike how the badges follow after the username instead of in front or is there an option I am just missing because I'm just super blind.
